The NNA-CO, together with the ARC-NAV project, is hosting a virtual open meet-up to discuss interests and ideas for a possible future network of community research liaisons. Such a  network could facilitate greater community-driven research with liaisons in leadership roles, create new opportunities for comparative work, and expand shared research infrastructure. The network could provide opportunities for greater coordination and training for liaisons and community members interested in taking on these roles in the future.

As climate change warms the Arctic more than twice as fast as the rest of the planet, communities across the region face new and abundant challenges, including coastal erosion, food security, increasing shipping traffic and more. The National Science Foundation’s Navigating the New Arctic (NNA) initiative aims to improve understanding of Arctic change and to advance actionable knowledge through convergence research—collaborative research that draws on information and expertise from across disciplines and knowledge systems, including Indigenous Knowledge, to solve complex challenges.
