Greenland launches first national research strategy

The Government of Greenland has presented its first national research strategy. The document defines how research in Greenland should develop over the next eight years and in which areas investments should be concentrated.

The NNA international meeting at ASSW 2023 focused on highlighting international NNA projects and their approaches to developing international collaborations, working across knowledge systems and disciplines, building partnerships with Indigenous Peoples, and reaching diverse international audiences. The meeting provided opportunities for networking and discussion around future collaboration and synthesis.

Arctic Report Card: Update for 2022

The 2022 Arctic Report Card (ARC2022) provides an updated annual view into the state of the Arctic by checking in on key vital signs—eight defining elements of the Arctic's climate and environmental system. This report also samples critical and emerging topics across the Arctic, bringing into focus diverse collections of observations that help to assess the overall trajectory of Arctic change.

White House Releases First-of-a-Kind Indigenous Knowledge Guidance for Federal Agencies

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) jointly released new government-wide guidance  and an accompanying implementation memorandum for Federal Agencies on recognizing and including Indigenous Knowledge in Federal research, policy, and decision making.

The AGU session on "Effective ways of engaging diverse learners in Arctic Science" took place on December 16, 2022 with an oral session from 10:00 to 11:30 am MT and a poster session from 1:45 to 5:15 pm MT.

The AGU session on "Convergent Research in the Arctic: Addressing Complex Societal Challenges through Action-Oriented Coastal and Ocean Science" took place on December 15, 2022 with a poster session from 8:00 am to 11:30 am MT and an oral session from 3:45 to 5:15 pm MT.

The Inclusive Mentoring workshop introduced mentors to key concepts for inclusive mentoring and provided tools, activities, discussions, and templates to support mentoring at all academic levels, including guidance for summer undergraduate research projects. The workshop encouraged questions to help mentors feel prepared and supported and was intended for NNA-funded projects and researchers seeking to improve their mentoring.
