Yuri Ŋewasyədya is a Senior attending Alaska Pacific University, pursuing Human Ecology and Environmental Sciences. Originally from a Nentsy/Komi reindeer-herding family in North-West Siberia, Yura arrived in America to assist with wildland firefighting and disaster response, and since then has had the privilege to apply their passion for research and inquiry to a variety of interdisciplinary interests- from Classical philosophy to postglacial sedimentology. They have experience teaching themselves subjects in the lab, the field, and the office, and love to challenge themselves in new and novel ways. They hope to be able to make a new home for themselves in Alaska after graduating in 2026, and to connect with their ancestral tundra and taiga once again.
